A BEAUTIFUL
PARTNERSHIP
FOR LITERACY
Superbowl Champion Malcolm Mitchell is on a mission to unlock the potential of young lives
through literacy. Malcolm grew up in Georgia and entered college reading at a middle school level.
During his first few years of college, he discovered a love of reading that ultimately changed his
life.
Through his personal journey, Malcolm knows literacy’s impact can reach far beyond enjoying a
good book. Statistically, students who can read at a proficient level have more confidence, earn
higher grades, have better school attendance, and have fewer social and behavior issues.
Studies show creating a steady flow of age-appropriate books in the home can triple a child’s
interest in reading. Unfortunately, over 60% of low-income families have no age-appropriate
books in their homes, and only 35% of 4th graders can read at a proficient level. If a child is not
reading well by the 4th grade, there is only a 22% chance they will ever catch up.
Malcolm Mitchell is on a mission to change that. In 2016, Malcolm established the Share the
Magic Foundation which has provided literacy programming to over 350,000 students and
distributed over 60,000 free books to underserved students nationally.
Booster joined Malcolm in this vital mission in 2021, launching the new partnership with an initial
donation of $25,000. The partnership and the impact continue to grow with another donation in
late fall bringing the total to $75,000.
